Formed in 1997 in Rio de Janeiro's western suburb of Vila Valqueire, Bom Gosto is a pagoda band with Fábio Beça (vocals, percussion), Flávio Regis (vocals, drums), André Neguinho (vocals, percussion), Fernando Macaé (vocals, percussion), Mug (vocals, guitar) and Adriano Ribeiro (vocals, banjo) as original members. Bom Gosto took ten years to establish themselves on the highly competitive local scene, and only released their first album in 2007 with the live Bom Gosto Ao Vivo. The group derives much of its legitimacy from its participation in numerous "roda de samba" ("samba rounds" where different artists meet, play together and test each other). Bom Gosto continued his career with the live album Roda de Samba Do Grupo Bom Gosto. in 2009. Like many Brazilian artists of the 2000s and 2010s, Bom Gosto favors live recordings, releasing Deixa Eu Cantar Meu Samba in 2011. Subúrbio Bom in 2013 and Roda de Samba do Grupo Bom Gosto, Vol. 2 in 2015 join the discography of a group that never expresses itself as well as it does on stage.
