Hedvig Mollestad – born Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen on February 4, 1982 in Ålesund, Norway – is a guitarist, singer and composer. She is best-known for her work with her own Hedvig Mollestad Trio as well as the Thomassen Trio, Bronco Busters, Songs and Sweet Potatoes, and VOM. She also works with other artists including Jarle Bernhoft, Marie Kjersem, and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. She graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music and was received the Young Jazz Talent of the Year award from Moldejazz – also known as the Molde International Jazz Festival - in 2009. That same year, she founded the Hedvig Mollestad Trio featuring Ellen Brekken on bass and Ivar Loe Bjørnstad on drums. They toured Norway and worked on material, eventually signing with the Rune Gramofon label. Their debut album, Shoot!, was released in 2011. The trio followed the debut with All of Them Witches (2013), Enfant Terrible (2014), Black Stabat Mater (2016), the live album Evil in Oslo (2016), and Smells Funny (2019).
