Hermanos Gutierrez

Hermanos Gutiérrez is an instrumental duo whose Grammy-nominated music makes room for Latin rhythms, western soundscapes, acoustic instruments, surf rock textures, and the influence of film composers like Ennio Morricone and Gustavo Santaolalla. Brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrezg grew up in Switzerland, often making visits to Playas, Ecuador, to visit family members. Despite an eight-year age gap, the siblings established a musical connection during a jam session in 2015, while Estevan was visiting Alejandro in Zurich. That jam session marked the beginning of their duo, and Hermanos Gutiérrez began releasing original music with 2016's 8 Años. El Camino de mi Alma (2017) and Hoy Como Ayer (2019) followed, with all three albums focusing on the band's combination of Latin influences and intricately woven guitar lines. 2020's Hijos del Sol marked a stylistic expansion, exploring the southwestern textures inspired by the band's recent visits to Mexico and the American Southwest. Two year later, the group teamed up with producer Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) for El Bueno y el Malo (2022), an album that earned Auerbach a Grammy nomination in 2023 for "Non-Classical Producer of the Year." Auerbach returned to the producer's chair for 2024's Sonido Cósmico, which reached number 193 on the Billboard 200, number 6 on the UK Americana Albums chart, and number 6 in Switzerland.
