Hinds are a Spanish indie-rock band who formed in Madrid in 2011, originally by vocalists and guitarists Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote. Later joined by bassist Ade Martín and drummer Amber Grimbergen, the quartet quickly gained attention with their lo-fi, garage rock sound and carefree attitude. Hinds' music blends infectious melodies, jangly guitars, and raw, unpolished production, drawing comparisons to bands like The Strokes and Black Lips. After kicking off with several demo singles, their debut album, Leave Me Alone (2016), introduced their sunny, retro-influenced sound, filled with youthful energy and candid lyrics about relationships, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Hinds' follow-up albums, I Don’t Run (2018) and The Prettiest Curse (2020), showcased their growing confidence and songwriting maturity, incorporating elements of pop and punk while maintaining their DIY spirit. In 2023, the band reverted to being a two-piece after Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen quit. The newly minted duo released their next album, Viva Hinds, in 2024, which featured Beck and Grian Chatten as collaborators. They also added bassist Paula Ruiz on bass and drummer Maria Lázaro as touring band members.
