Brimming with bouncy, indie dance tunes and electro pop dance rhythms, Ben Grubin and Jeremy Reynolds formed Hockey at college and became a big hit at local campus parties. The breakdown of a deal with Sony led them to Portland, Oregon where they picked up some new band members and started playing live and recording in their living rooms. Thanks to the help of DJ Zane Lowe playing home-made demos on his BBC Radio 1 show, the band were soon causing waves on the UK live scene and were snapped up by Virgin Records in Europe and Capitol in the US. Quickly becoming the name to drop by any self-respecting muso, they hit the festival circuit in 2009 playing at Glastonbury, T in the Park and Bonnaroo and appearing on high profile TV shows Later...With Jools Holland and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Preceded by single Too Fake, debut album Mind Chaos was released in 2009 to generally positive reviews.
