The Höhner are a Cologne music group founded in 1972 by Peter Werner, Walter Pelzer, Rolf Lessenich and Janus Fröhlich under the name Ne Höhnerhoff. Their biggest hit at the time was "Scheiß ejal, ob do Hohn bess oder Hahn" from 1974, which is still sung today during carnival. in 1975, the band changed its name to De Höhner. From 1978, a relationship with the soccer club 1. FC Köln and its fans begins; the band dedicates several songs to the club, such as "Unser Bock es Meister", which are repeatedly played in the stadium and sung along to by the fans. Also in 1978, the band releases its first album Ich well noh Hus, which contains the current carnival classic "Blootwoosch, Kölsch un e lecker Mädche". In the 1980s, the band signed a record deal and from then on also recorded High German songs such as "Für Dich" (1987). The Höhner hit the German singles charts for the first time in 1998 with "Die Karawane zieht weiter... dä Sultan hät Doosch!", and the accompanying album Die Karawane zieht weiter (The Caravan Goes On) also lands in the German album charts. At the beginning of the new millennium, the group began a collaboration with Cologne's Circus Roncalli, with whom they toured Germany over the next few years. in 2003, the group achieved nationwide success with the title "Viva Colonia" , for which they were awarded the Golden Record. "Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann?" became the official World Cup song for the 2007 Handball World Cup and reached number one in the official sales charts. Over the course of the band's history, the Höhner perform in various line-ups and release a large number of albums and singles. The albums also reach the German charts in the 2010s, such as Alles op Anfang (2016, number 15) and Wir sind für die Liebe gemacht (2018, number 32). In 2022, the best-of album 50 Jahre - 50 Hits is released and reaches number 24 in Germany. With Dat schönste Johr, the Höhner release another studio album in August 2024.
