HP Boyz

Childhood friends Junior "YJ" Mika, Samoa "MWAYS" Fune, and Tino "HP Onit" Taito formed HP Boyz in 2019, bringing a modern spin to the Australian hip-hop tradition with drill influences, trap-influenced beats, and an aggressive delivery. The three rappers had grown up together in Hampton Park, a suburb of Melbourne. Longtime music fans, they crafted an original sound informed by hometown heroes like Joel Fletcher and Alex Jones, as well as British grime rappers like Stormzy and Skepta. "Blueprint," the trio's first single, was released in 2019 and quickly became a viral hit in Australia. "Engineers" followed later that year, charting at Number 13 in New Zealand and earning more than 20 million streams on Spotify. Another single, "Bad and Bouj," peaked at Number 30 in New Zealand, giving the group two Top 40 singles during the same year. Following a sold-out New Zealand tour, HP Boyz found success in their native Australia with 2020's 6 to the World, a debut EP that climbed to Number 7 on the ARIA charts. HP Onit appeared as a guest on Joel Fletcher's "Flacko" that same year, then joined his fellow members of HP Boyz for the collaborative single "Demon Time [Remix]," which also featured Sai So, M24, and Potter Payper.
