Dream, aka DreamWasTaken, is the pseudonym of American vlogger and influencer Clay, born on August 12, 1999 in Florida. He began posting videos online in 2014, mostly centered around the sandbox video game Minecraft. Towards the end of the 2010s, Dream rose to prominence thanks to his incredibly popular Minecraft Manhunt series, accumulating millions of followers and views on his multiple video-sharing channels. In 2021, he made his official music debut with the single “Roadtrip,” which featured singer-songwriter PmBata and climbed to Number 75 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart. That same year, Dream followed up with “Mask,” a more straightforward pop-rock tune that went to Number 38 in the UK and addressed the artist’s past struggles with mental illness. He continued to build on his reputation as a viral, chart-dwelling musician in August 2021 with "Change My Clothes," a collaboration with US singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin, and kept up the momentum with a major label deal the following year. "Until I End Up Dead," his first single for Mercury and Republic Records, landed in June 2023 and was followed by his debut EP, To Whoever Wants to Hear, which was released in September 2023. The EP, which cracked the Billboard 200 chart at number 173, featured the Yung Gravy-assisted single "Everest."
