Ícaro & Gilmar, a Brazilian sertanejo duo from Periquito, formed in 2009, consists of lifelong friends Ícaro da Silva Mantovani and Gilmar Rodrigues de Castro. The pair originally started their musical journey in a pop rock band in 2005 but shifted to sertanejo after the band dissolved, performing in small venues and bars. Their breakthrough came in 2018 with the release of their debut album Na Bebida e Na Sofrência, which featured the hit "Despedida" and brought them national recognition. In 2019, they launched their signature project Sextou BB, a series of re-recordings of Brazilian classics, which gained massive popularity during the pandemic. In 2020, they released A Gente Acertou, an album featuring collaborations with notable artists like Naiara Azevedo and Gabriel Gava, and produced the hit single "M de Mulher." Their 2022 live album, Ao Vivo em Campo Grande, featured the chart-topping single "Imperfeitos," which garnered over 35 million views. In 2023, they released Nunca Deixe de Sonhar, a DVD recorded in Goiânia, with collaborations from Hugo & Guilherme and Eduardo Costa. The standout tracks "Logo Logo" and "A Viola e Eu" quickly amassed millions of streams, solidifying Ícaro & Gilmar’s place as a rising force in the sertanejo scene. In 2024, Ícaro & Gilmar released the single "Diferentona" featuring Luan Pereira, which reached number 4 on the Billboard Brazil chart.
