Ja, Panik is a band founded in 2005, originally from the Austrian Burgenland. Berlin is now considered the creative center. The founding members include guitarist and singer Andreas Spechtl, bassist Stefan Pabst, piano player and second singer Christian Treppo and drummer Manuel Dinhof. After the debut single "Venedig" (2005), the first album Ja, Panik followed in 2006. Initially, there was little interest from music fans. This also applies to the two following albums The Taste and the Money (2007) and The Angst and the Money (2009). It was not until the album with the unwieldy title DMD KIU LIDT that the first successes came. The album reached number 17 in Austria and also entered the German charts at number 82. Music critics are enthusiastic about the album. The 14-minute title track "DMD KIU LIDT" is voted number 5 in the AustroTOP ranking of the "100 most important Austrian pop songs" by the music magazine The Gap in 2020. The success continues with the follow-up Libertatia (2014). The longplayer reached the Austrian top 10 at number 8, reached number 32 in Germany and rose to number 67 in Switzerland. This was followed by a longer period of abstinence. It was not until 2021 that Ja, Panik returned with Die Gruppe. At number 14 in Austria and number 25 in Germany, this is another chart success for the band. In early 2024, Ja, Panik released another album, Don't Play With the Rich Kids. Once again, the band reaches the charts in Austria and Germany.
