Jacob Whitesides was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 11, 1997. It was also here that he grew up and discovered music, realizing that he wanted to make a career of it when he was just eleven years old and attending a bluegrass festival with his family in 2008. He was still just 14 in 2012 when the American public discovered him during auditions for The X Factor . It wasn't long before the young musician, a few weeks later, released his first EP entitled 3AM - The EP, in which he covered songs by John Legend, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. This recording helped him break into the American charts, and his irresistible rise continued in 2015 with the release of a second EP, A Piece of Me. He then founded his own label, Double U Records, backed by major label BMG, and quickly released a third EP, Faces on Film. In spring 2016, a single entitled "Lovesick" heralded the imminent September 2016 release of his debut album, Why?
