James Murphy

In 1992, rather than accept a job writing for the TV series Seinfeld, James Murphy (born in New Jersey in 1970) persevered with music, working as a sound engineer for the American post-punk band Six Finger Satellite. He became DJ Death from Above, a nickname that would have a lasting influence on his career. After founding the label DFA Records (for Death from Above) in 2001, he went on to form the electro-dance-punk collective LCD Soundsystem, which quickly became a benchmark in the genre. But that wasn't enough for the insatiable James Murphy, who went on to work alongside a host of artists, and even in the film industry, where his soundtracks are as versatile as he is. Released in 2010, Greenberg 's soundtrack is followed five years later by While We're Young.
