Janoskians

The Janoskians was a musical comedy group formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2011. Founded by Beau Brooks and his younger twin brothers Luke and Jai Brooks, the troupe also included James Yammouni and Daniel Sayhouni. The Janoskians – which stood for ‘Just another name of silly kids in another nation’ – began posting on social media when they were in their teens. Initially posting pranks, skits, and mockumentaries, their channel became popular which led to them building their social media empire while also signing a music deal with Sony Music Australia. The Janoskians released their debut single, “Set This World on Fire,” in September 2012 and reached number 19 on the Australian charts. Their second single, “Best Friends” (2013) hit number 30 but quickly fell off the charts. In 2014, they issued their third single, “Real Girls Eat Cake,” which was their final charting hit, climbing to number 63. Other singles released that year included “That’s What She Said” and “This Freakin / Fuckin Song.” The Janoskians issued their Would U Love Me EP in 2015, the same year they released the movie Janoskians Untold & Untrue on streaming platforms. While the group continued to release singles – including “Friend Zone” (2015), “All I Want 4 Christmas” (2015), “Love What You Have” (2016), “All the Things” (2017), and “Oceans” (2017), they came under a lot of criticism for their pranks, which were pulled on unsuspecting members of the public. These controversies began to have a negative effect on their popularity. In 2016, James Yammouni left The Janoskians and by 2018, the rest of the troupe announced that they were taking a break from social media. Two years later, it was revealed that they had officially broken up.
