Raised outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and influenced by the country music legacy of Nashville, Tennessee, Jason Kirkness landed his first hit in 2023, when "Anywhere The Night Goes" reached the Top 40 of the Canada Country chart. He was born in Kleefeld and raised in nearby Kleefeld, Manitoba, where he acquired an acoustic guitar as a teenager and began strumming along to songs by Alabama and Nirvana. After graduating high school, Kirkness moved back to Winnipeg and launched his professional music career, combining country and rock influences into songs like his debut single, "In Another Minute." Released in 2009, "In Another Minute" was followed by Kirkness' debut album, Life on the Road, which appeared two years later. A second full-length record, A Beautiful Disaster, was released in 2017 and spawned the popular single "Whiskey Kiss," which racked up more than 300,000 digital spins. Kirkness soon became a part-time resident of Nashville, where he co-wrote new material with several of the city's established hitmakers and continued to built his reputation as a live act, opening for acts like Keith Urban and Florida Georgia Line along the way. After releasing the standalone single "A Little Party" in 2021, he struck gold with 2022's "Anywhere The Night Goes." Produced his producer and longtime collaborator Sean Power, "Anywhere The Night Goes" reached Number 37 on Canada's country singles chart, turning Kirkness into a Top 40 success story after a dozen years of DIY touring.
