Born Liu Ying Ting (English: Jeremy "Jer" Lau Ying Ting) in British Hong Kong on November 20, 1992, the singer and actor known professionally as Jer is one of Hong Kong's most popular new faces. He made a name for himself as a member of 12-person boy band Mirror – who were formed by ViuTV and debuted with their first single, "In a Second" (一秒間), in 2018 – before branching off from the group to launch his solo career. His first solo single, "Water Story," arrived in February 2020 and peaked at number three on the Ultimate 903 Chart, RTHK Chinese Pop Chart, as well as going to number four on the Metro Radio Pop Chart. He went even further with his second single, "Back Lights Story," taking it to the number one spot on the Ultimate 903 Chart and ViuTV's Chill Club Chart. This initial bout of success led to a number of awards, including the Best New Performer gong at the Metro Hit Awards, the Ultimate Song Chart Awards, and the Chinese Gold Song Awards. In 2021, he unleashed "Madman's Diary" – a tribute to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" – as the first instalment of his rebirth trilogy, which makes a titular reference to the short story of the same name by Chinese writer Lu Xun. Three new singles arrived in 2022, including "Rules for Leaving."
