Born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, Jerry Yan (January 1, 1977) began his journey as a singer in Taiwanese boyband F4 during the 2000s before releasing his debut solo album, Jerry for You, in 2004. The album was a success, scooping the Best Album and Best Newcomer prize at the China Top Music Awards. It cleared the way for Yan's film debut, where he took the starring role in Hong Kong romantic comedy Magic Kitchen. Yan spent the next five years honing his craft as an actor, starring in critically acclaimed Taiwanese medical drama The Hospital in 2006, sports comedy Hot Shot in 2008 and drama series Starlit in 2009. That same year, Yan welcomed the release of his second studio album, Freedom, which was a best-seller in Taiwan and Japan, reaching Number 8 on Japan's Oricon Chart. In 2010, Yan released his third album, My Secret Lover, which weaved in songs featured on The Hospital and Hot Shot soundtracks and yielded various accolades in Singapore and Taiwan. Yan spent the 2010s cementing his reputation as a celebrated actor and in 2020 appeared in romantic comedy-drama Count Your Lucky Stars, alongside Shen Yue. 2017 saw the release of the Oh My Little Girl / Happy Wedding Day EP, and in 2020 Yan unveiled new single "我好喜歡你".
