Jhay Cortez is a Puerto Rican vocalist whose music combines Latin pop, reggaeton, and R&B. He was born on April 9, 1993, in Rio Pedras, Puerto Rico, and moved to New Jersey as a child. A songwriter since the age of 15, he launched his career by penning hits for acts like Zion & Lennox and Tito El Bambino, the latter of whom earned a Latin Grammy for an album, Invencible, that featured the Cortez composition "Llama al Sol." He released "Donde No De Vea," his first single as a solo artist, in 2017. In 2019, he released "No Me Conoce" in collaboration with J Balvin and Bad Bunny. The song's music video earned more than a billion views, while the track's remix charted at Number 1 in the Dominican Republic, Number 1 in Puerto Rico, Number 4 in Argentina, and Number 2 on the US Latin Airplay chart. "No Me Conoce" also appeared on Jhay Cortez's debut album, Famouz, which came out in May 2019 and earned triple-platinum sales. One year later, he collaborated with Bad Bunny on the reggaeton hit "Dakiti," which peaked at Number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. One year later, he released his second album, Timelezz, and scored another radio hit with the Anuel AA duet "Ley Seca." Following the success of his second studio LP, Jhayco embarked on an international tour, and in 2024, he released his highly anticipated third album Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X), featuring collaborations with artists like Peso Pluma and Quevedo.
