John Martin Lindström (born on August 22, 1980), also known as John Martin, is a Swedish singer-songwriter who rose to fame after collaborating with electronic outfit Swedish House Mafia. Lindström started his music career during his teenage years, playing covers in several music venues in Stockholm. After being discovered by Swedish DJ Axwell (of Swedish House Mafia fame), he was invited to sing on the group’s 2011 single, “Save the World.” The song quickly became a hit, topping the Hot Dance Club Songs chart in the US and reaching Number 10 on the UK Singles chart. In 2012, “Don’t You Worry Child,” yet another collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, earned Martin his first UK Number 1 single and a nomination to the 2013 Grammys for Best Dance Recording. Following a couple of collaborations as guest vocalist for artists like Tinie Tempah and Sebastian Ingrosso, Martin released “Anywhere for You,” his first solo single, in 2014. The track proved to be an instant hit, reaching the UK Top 10 and obtaining gold certification in Sweden. Martin took a break from the EDM scene, teaming up with longtime collaborator Michel Zitron in for VCATION, a more organic-sounding project that steered away from club music to focus on pop and laid-back electronica. The duo made their official debut with “Lay Low”, released in July, 2018, followed by “Whiskey & Cola” (2019) and “Stairway to the Sun” (2020).
