John Powell

Based in the United States, where he started out in Hans Zimmer's studio, English composer John Powell (b. London, September 18, 1963) has scored dozens of Hollywood films since John Woo's Volte/Face (1997). Specializing in animated films such as Robots, Ice Age (episodes 2, 3 and 4), Happy Feet and Rio (episodes 1 and 2, 2011-2014), he also scores comedies and action films(Hancock, Jason Bourne). A regular composer for directors F. Gary Gray and Paul Greengrass, he wrote the music for Death in the Skin (2004), Revenge in the Skin (2007) and Green Zone (2009). After two episodes of the animated series Dragons (2010 and 2014) and other commissions, he is in charge of creating a new score for the Star Wars saga feature film Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). In 2022, he collaborated with Ludwig Göransson and Michael Giacchino on the sequel Star War Stories: From the Mandalorian, Rogue One and Solo, and penned the soundtracks for The Call of the Wild (2020), Don't Worry Darling (2022), Thelma the Unicorn (2023), That Christmas (2024) and, with Stephen Schwartz, the score for Wicked.
