Jonas Fjeld is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and guitarist who took his stage name from a character in a novel by Ovre Richter Frich. Initially he released some comedy records as the Jonas Fjeld Rock'N'Rolf Band and the Jonas Fjeld Bing Bang Band. He released his first solo album 'Take Aspirins and Call Me in the Morning' in 1975, an album in the singer-songwriter style that included covers of two Beatles songs. As the Jonas Fjeld Band he released several country rock albums in the 1970s and 1980s, including their debut 'Tennessee Tapes' in 1977, 'Back in the USA' in 1978, 'Neck 'n' Neck' in 1985 and 'Time and Motion' in 1986. His second solo album was 'Living for the Weekend' in 1982. He collaborated with US singer-songwriter Eric Andersen and The Band's Rick Danko in the trio known as Danko Fjeld Andersen, releasing the album 'Danko/Fjeld/Andersen' in 1991 and 'Ridin' On the Blinds' in 1994. In the new millennium he formed a partnership with American outfit Chatham County Line, releasing the live album 'Amerikabesok' in 2007, 'Brother of Song' (2009) and 'Western Harmonies' in 2003. He was at the same time releasing his solo work such as 'Hjemmesseier' in 2001 and 'Hustrig' in 2015. His 2019 album 'Winter Stories' was a folk collaboration with Judy Collins and also featured Chatham County Line. The ten songs were based around the theme of winter, typified by songs such as Stan Rogers' 'North West Passage', Joni Mitchell's 'The River' and an epic version of Collins' own 'The Blizzard'.
