Jordana

Jordana is the stage name of Jordana Nye, a bedroom pop artist who released her first album at 18 years old. She was born in Washington, DC, on June 22, 2000, and grew up in nearby Maryland. The daughter of a church organist, she began playing instruments at a young age, starting with the violin at nine years old. Before long, Nye was also playing guitar, bass, and ukulele, all of which she began using to write and recorded her owns songs as a teenager. During her late teenage years, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she turned her new bedroom into a makeshift recording studio. It was there that she recorded Classical Notions of Happiness, a debut record that was entirely written, recorded, and performed by the 18 year-old. Classical Notions of Happiness received praise from critical outlets like Pitchfork, leading to a record deal (and a subsequent re-release of her debut album) with Grand Jury. Two EPs, Something to Say and To You, were released in 2020, then combined to form the full-length record Something To Say To You. This time, Jordana worked with co-producer Melvv. She continued to collaborate with others on 2022's Face the Wall, which found her working with producer Cameron Hale. Meanwhile, she began increasing her audience in Japan, where the songs "I Guess This Is Life" and "Catch My Drift" charted at numbers 16 and 22, respectively, on the Top 100 Hot Songs JWAVE chart. Back home in America, she earned her first stateside hit with "Better In The Dark," which debuted at number 46 on the Top 50 Rock & Alternative Songs chart in March 2024.
