Jorge & Mateus

Jorge & Mateus, a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 2005 in Itumbiara, Goiás, by Jorge Barcelos (vocals) and Mateus Liduário (vocals and guitar), are among the most prominent figures in sertanejo music. They debuted in 2007 with the live album Ao Vivo em Goiânia, featuring hits like “Pode Chorar” and “De Tanto Te Querer,” which catapulted them to national fame. Their studio debut, Aí Já Era (2010), marked a stylistic evolution with pop and folk rock influences, followed by acclaimed projects like At the Royal Albert Hall - Live in London (2013), a historic performance recorded outside Brazil, and Os Anjos Cantam (2015), an album centered on romantic themes. Celebrating a decade of success, their 2016 live album 10 Anos drew over 80,000 fans in Brasília. Subsequent albums like Terra Sem CEP (2018) and Tudo Em Paz (2021) solidified their legacy, with chart-topping singles such as “Propaganda” and “Lance Individual.” Known for blending traditional sertanejo elements with modern sounds, Jorge & Mateus have sold over 10 million records and earned numerous accolades, including Latin Grammy nominations and a Multishow Award for Best Duo in 2018, making them one of Brazil's most commercially successful music acts. Over the next few years, the duo continued their victory lap with acclaimed live releases such as 2022's É Simples Assim and 2024's Check-In, which included the chart entry "Cantada Boba."
