July Talk is an alternative rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 2010. What was initially born as a collaborative effort between Latvian-Canadian musician Peter Dreimanis and singer Leah Fay quickly evolved into a full-blown band project with the addition of bassist Josh Warburton, drummer Danny Miles, and guitarist Eamon McGrath, who would be replaced by Ian Docherty shortly after. Released in 2012, their eponymous studio debut was met with overwhelming critical acclaim by both local and international media outlets. An extended edition with four previously unreleased songs was issued by Universal Music Canada in 2013—a release that later won Alternative Album of the Year at the 2015 Juno Awards. In the following years, the group would win the category twice more with the albums Touch (2016) and Pray for It (2020). In 2022, July Talk returned with Remember Never Before: The Stella EP, which found them experimenting with a more polished pop-leaning sound. "Certain Father," one of the singles from the EP, peaked at Number 39 on the Canadian Rock Chart. Three of the four tracks from that 2022 EP turned up on the band’s fourth album, Remember Never Before, which was released in 2023. Alongside “Certain Father,” the album also included the singles “I Am Water,” “When You Stop,” and “G-d Mother Fire.”
