June Freedom

Born in Boston on June 24, 1988 into a family originally from Cape Verde, Pedro Fontes Veiga Jr. aka June Freedom combines the music of his African roots with modern urban rhythms. He grew up in Fogo, Cape Verde, where he immersed himself in coladeira and local rhythms, before returning to the United States. Settling successively in New York and Los Angeles, he received the support of singer Akon, who promoted his single "D'or dum kriolu " (2020). Signed to the Flight Club Music label, the polyglot musician, who performs his songs in Kriolu, Portuguese, Spanish and English, released his debut album Anchor Baby in 2021, a fusion of R&B and alternative pop, Afrobeats, Afro-zouk and kizomba. A year later, the album was enriched by ten new tracks on its reissue, while June Freedom is already hard at work on the next effort, 7 Seas, released in 2023.
