The German band Jupiter Jones comes from the Eifel region and was founded in 2002 during a party by Nicholas Müller (guitar, vocals), Michael Stadtfeld (bass), Marco Hontheim (drums) and Sascha Eigner (guitar). Their name is derived from the name of Jupiter Jones, the detective from Die drei ??? The band recorded their first demo Auf das Leben in the year they were founded. They later opened for the Donots, Muff Potter and The (International) Noise Conspiracy. At the end of 2003, they achieved 2nd place in Rhineland-Palatinate in the Rockbuster newcomer competition. Jupiter Jones make their first major appearance at the Southside Festival in Baden-Württemberg in the summer of 2004. A short time later, their debut album Raum um Raum is released. Further albums followed and in February 2011 the album Jupiter Jones was released, which reached 14th place in Germany and the top 20 in Austria. The single "Still" even reached 2nd place in Austria and the top 10 in Germany and was awarded the ECHO in 2012. In addition, "Still" was the most played German-language song on the radio throughout Germany in 2011. In the same year, Jupiter Jones performed at the Darmstadt Schlossgrabenfest, the Southside Festival and the Hurricane Festival, among others. Nicholas Müller left the band in 2014 for health reasons and was replaced by Sven Lauer. jupiter Jones released the album Brüllende Fahnen in 2016 and announced its dissolution in 2017. At the beginning of 2021, the band re-formed around Nicholas Müller and Sascha Eigner and released the single "Überall waren Schatten".
