The Nigerian electronic music artist known as Kah-Lo was born Faridah Seriki in Lagos in 1992. After relocating to New York in 2009 to pursue a college degree, she officially launched her music career through a series of collaborations with English DJ Riton, namely the single “Rinse & Repeat” (2016), which bowed at Number 2 on the UK Dance Chart and received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. The track was included in the duo’s first collaborative album, Foreign Ororo (2018), which also contained the singles “Fasta,” “Betta Riddim,” “Fake ID,” “Ginger,” and “Money” with Mr. Eazi and Davido. Following a series of cameos on Diplo and Blond:ish’s “Give Dem” (2019), The Knocks’ “Awa Ni” (2019), and Michael Brun’s “Melanin” (2020), Kah-Lo released her solo debut EP The Arrival in 2021. “Fire,” one of the singles from the EP, cracked the Top 40 of the Dance/Mix Show Airplay, placing at Number 36.
