Kalvijn is a Dutch YouTuber who has made the jump to pop semi-stardom with a string of comedic house releases. Born Kelvin Boerma in The Netherlands in 1996, his YouTube career began in his teens. In 2010 he started his channel, then going by the name TheKelVlog and later Kalvijn. The channel had a comedy focus, with popular videos including the likes of 'One Minute of Randomness', 'Kate Upton Tinder Match' and 'The Hunger Games: Katniss Dies Scene'. In 2011 Kalvijn branched out to start the film critic YouTube channel 'Cinemates' with his friend Peter de Harder and in 2015 collaborated with de Harder, Mert Ugurdiken and producers Omar Kbiri, Jacqueline Vizee and Viola Welling to found VEED, a festival and awards ceremony. Kalvijn began releasing music in 2017 when ten-year-old fellow YouTuber Noah released a video poking fun at the star. They collaborated on the music video 'Nu Al Milijonair' and managed to chart at number 98 in the Dutch top 100 singles chart. The track is a light-hearted blend of rap and house that pokes fun at wealth and set the tone for Kalvijn's later recordings. 2017 also saw the release of 'Contrast' and in 2018 'Ik Word Papa' and 'Nee' followed, with 'Me Chick' and 'De Misse' arriving in 2019.
