Karg is an Austrian post-black metal project founded in 2006 by Michael "J.J." V. Wahntraum in Sankt Johann im Pongau. Originally conceived as a one-man project, Karg developed into a live band between 2010 and 2014, performing in Germany, Austria and Central Europe. Karg's discography includes several albums, including Von den Winden der Sehnsucht (2008), Von den Winden der Sehnsucht #2 (2010), Weltenasche (2016) and Dornenvögel (2018). Two more albums follow with Traktat (2020, number 34 in Germany) and Resignation (2022, number 82 in Germany). The ninth album Marodeur is released in April 2025. The single "Findling" provides a first taste of the album. Karg is known for his fusion of black metal with ambient elements, with the music often dealing with themes such as longing, depression and self-destruction. Michael V. Wahntraum is also the singer of the band Harakiri for the Sky.
