The Danish house DJ and music producer Thomas Kato Vittrup, better known as Kato, was born in Thisted on September 13, 1981. He began DJing in nightclubs and remixing for other artists as early as 2005, and shortly afterwards began writing and producing his own music. His breakthrough came in 2010 with the commercial success of the single "Turn the Lights Off", which went platinum just eight months later, selling 30,000 copies. The track is a cover version of an earlier hit by DJ Jose from 2007. Kato released his first album Discolized on 1 March 2010, which reached number 6 in the official Danish album charts. For his single "Hey Shorty (Yeah Yeah Pt. II)" he works with the rappers U$O and Johnson, "Desert Walk" is created in collaboration with the rap group Outlandish. Both singles reach the top 5 of the Danish singles charts. Kato's second album Discolized 2.0, which is released in spring 2011, makes it to the top of the Danish charts. Further albums such as Behind Closed Doors (2013) and Now (2015) reach number 4 and 5. In 2017, Kato releases the single "Show You Love" with Sigala and Hailee Steinfeld, another collaboration is released in 2022 under the title "Odyssey" with Spyker and Tobsik.
