The Christian rapper known as KB was born Kevin Elijah Burgess on July 21, 1988, in St. Petersburg, Florida. After surviving a series of severe depressive episodes and experimenting with drugs during his adolescence, he enrolled in Bible college and founded the Christian rap group HGA (short for His Glory Alone), through which he met fellow rapper Lecrae. KB's connection with Lecrae allowed him to secure a record deal with Reach Records in 2010, which released his debut mixtape Who Is KB? in 2011. Preceded by the singles "Hello" (with Suzy Rock), "Zone Out" (with Chris Lee Cobbins), and "Go Off" (with Tedashii and Andy Mineo), his first full-length Weight & Glory appeared in 2012 and soared to the top of the Gospel and Top Christian Albums Chart in the US. This success was followed by other Number 1 records such as the EP 100 (2014) and the albums Tomorrow We Live (2015) and Today We Rebel (2017). Following his departure from Reach Records in 2020, KB signed with Sony Music imprint Essential Sound and issued the singles "Armies," "10K," and "Lil Boy," all included in his fourth LP His Glory Alone. Over the next few years, the Florida rapper collaborated extensively with other artists such as Casting Crows, Steven Malcolm, and Brandon Lake, who guested on the Top 50 single "Graves" (2022). In August 2023, KB released His Glory Alone 2, the follow-up to his hit album from 2020. His Glory Alone 2 featured the previous hit “Graves” as well as collaborations with Britt Nicole, S.O., DAYSHAWNx, Scootie Wop, Limoblaze, and others.
