Born in Atlanta, Georgia but mostly raised in Houston, Texas, Kelly Rowland's future seemed pre-ordained from the day she met Beyoncé Knowles and they set off on their glittering journey to become one of the biggest girl bands on the planet, Destiny's Child. Originally called Girl's Tyme and performing an energetic mix of rap and carefully choreographed dance routines, they were managed by Beyoncé's father Matthew Knowles and Rowland was treated as a member of the family - even living with them during the group's early days. She remained with Destiny's Child throughout their triumphant reign and was still with them when she made her first steps apart from them, collaborating with Nelly on his hit track Dilemma. Her solo debut album Simply Deep was released in 2003, featuring the hit single Stole, selling over 2.5 million copies and giving her a rockier style. A second album Ms Kelly arrived in 2007, while she diversified with further collaborations, several acting roles and various charitable causes.
