Kim Gun-mo

Born in Busan, South Korea, on January 13, 1968, South Korean singer-songwriter Kim Gun-mo developed an early passion for music, beginning piano lessons at the age of four. He completed his education in Seoul, attending elementary, middle, and high school before graduating from the Seoul Institute of the Arts. Kim made his debut with the album Kim Gun Mo 1 in 1992, followed by Excuse in 1993 before releasing his 1995 album, Wrongful Meeting, which was a massive success, selling over 3.3 million copies and earning him a Guinness World Record for the best-selling album of all time in South Korea. In the years that followed, Kim released Exchange in 1996 and Myself in 1997. His 1999 album Growing, topped the charts, a feat he repeated with Another Days (2001) and Hestory (2003), the latter of which was also the best-selling album of 2003. Kim’s star continued to rise with his ninth album, Kim Gun Mo 9, in 2004, BE Like... in 2005, and Style Album 11: Scarecrow in 2007, making a notable return to the charts with Soul Groove in 2008, which reached number 7, following this with greatest hits record Autobiography & Best in 2011.
