Kittie

Kittie is a gold-certified, Juno-nominated heavy metal band from London, Ontario, where the group was formed in 1996 by guitarist Fallon Bowman, drummer Mercedes Lander, and singer Morgan Lander. The Lander sisters would become the only bandmates to appear on every album, starting with the group's 1999 debut, Spit. The album went gold in the US, where the songs "Brackish" and "Charlotte" both reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Active Rock chart. Oracle followed in 2001, reaching number 57 in the US and number 121 in the UK. That same year, Kittie was nominated for "Best New Group" at the Juno Awards. Despite frequent lineup changes, Kittie maintained a spot on the Billboard charts with albums like 2004's Until The End (which reached number 105), 2007's Funeral for Yesterday (which hit number 101), 2009's In the Black (number 133), and 2011's I've Failed You (number 178). Heavily influenced by death metal, I've Failed You became Kittie's final album for more than a decade, with the band members all pursuing various side projects during the hiatus. Bassist Trish Doan died on February 11, 2017, and an expanded version of the group — featuring members from multiple different lineups — performed three shows later that year to celebrate the creation of their documentary film, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions. Fire followed in 2024 and returned Kittie to the US Billboard charts, where the album's most successful single, "We Are Shadows," reached number 35 on Mainstream Rock Airplay.
