Kode9 is the pseudonym of Scottish artist Steve Goodman, born in Glasgow in 1973. Composer, DJ and Doctor of Philosophy, he contributed to the development and intellectualization of dubstep, a musical style heir to UK garage house, jungle and Jamaican dub. He also runs the Hyperdub label, his own independent structure producing major figures in contemporary British electro (Burial, The Bug, Zomby and Mark Pritchard). Through this label, he has released the albums Memories of the Future (2006) and Black Sun (2011), with The Spacecape, followed by Nothing, in 2015. In 2010, he produced a volume in the DJ-Kicks series. Alongside his artistic activities, Steve Goodman is a university lecturer and lecturer in the social, psychological and cognitive sciences. He is the author of a complex work on the use of sound for military purposes entitled Sonic Warfare: Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear.
