French electronic music duo Kompromat, formed in 2018, seals the meeting between musicians and producers Vitalic and Julia Lanoë aka Rebeka Warrior. Born in Dijon in 1976, Pascal Arbez-Nicolas aka Vitalic is an important figure in the "French Touch" of the 2000s and founder of the Citizen Records label, while Rebeka Warrior, born in Saint-Nazaire in 1978, made her name in parallel as part of the duos Mansfield.TYA and Sexy Sushi, alternating between the electro-pop of the former and the techno-punk of the latter over two decades. Blending their influences, particularly that of Berlin techno, they form the Kompromat project (from the Russian term компромат meaning "compromising material"), which launches in January 2019 with the single "Niemand", whose video directed by Bertrand Mandico wins an award at the Berlin Music Video Awards. In April, the album Traum und Existenz follows, mostly sung in German, apart from the track "De mon âme à ton âme" featuring actress Adèle Haenel. Although the project seemed to come to a halt in 2021, the duo return in 2024 with two new tracks sung in English, "I Let Myself Go Blind" with Vimala Pons and Sonia DeVille, and "Lift Me Up", ahead of "I Let Myself Go Blind " with Vimala Pons and Sonia DeVille. Lift Me Up", ahead of the release of the album PLДYING / PRДYING, released in early 2025 with the additional collaboration of Rahim Redcar, formerly Christine and the Queens/Chris, on "I Did Not Forget You". The album reached number 76 in the French charts on its release.
