Korn

Founded in Bakersfield, California in 1993, Korn helped usher in the nu-metal genre, making it one of the most prominent musical movements of the early noughties. Former members of Bakersfield band L.A.P.D. recruited Brian Welch and Jonathan Davis to form Korn. The band's first single, “Blind”, received considerable airplay in the US and as a result the band gained popularity, embarking on an intense schedule of live shows throughout the States. Their dynamic live shows helped them to build a dedicated fanbase, and they entered the Billboard 200 with their self-titled debut album in 1996, reaching Number 72. The band went on to support Ozzy Osborne on his US tour alongside Deftones, as well as opening for Megadeth and Fear Factory. In 1996, Korn returned with their second album, Life Is Peachy, which entered the Billboard 200 at Number 3 and included the hit single “A.D.I.D.A.S.” Their next two albums - Follow the Leader (1998) and Issues (1999) - reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200. Subsequent albums include Untouchables (2002), Take a Look in the Mirror (2003), and See You On the Other Side (2005) all made it into the Top 10. In 2005, Brian Welch left the band to pursue his religious beliefs and spend more time being a father. The following year, original drummer David Silveria also departed the band. 2007 saw the release of Untitled, which peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard 200. Brian Welch returned to the band in 2012 in time for their eleventh studio album, The Paradigm Shift (2013), which reached Number 1 on Billboard's US Independent Albums Chart and the US Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. The Serenity of Suffering followed in 2016, reaching the Top 10 in eleven countries around the world. In 2019, Korn returned with single “Cold”, which was featured on their 13th studio album, The Nothing. In 2021, Korn released the single “Start the Healing”, which was followed by the album Requiem in February 2022. The album reached Number 14 in the US but fared better overseas, reaching Number 1 on the Australian Albums chart and Number 2 in Germany.
