La Bien Querida

Ana Fernández-Villaverde, known artistically as La Bien Querida, is a Spanish singer-songwriter who transitioned from painting to music in 2007, inspired by J of Los Planetas. Born on November 6, 1972, in Bilbao, Basque Country, her initial demo recorded with Horacio Nistal was acclaimed as the best of the year by Mondosonoro magazine. In 2009, she released her debut album, Romancero, produced by David Rodríguez, which was lauded as the best national album by both Mondosonoro and Rockdelux. Her sophomore effort, Fiesta (2011), featured standout tracks like "Hoy" and "Noviembre." Continuing her evolution, the 2012 album Ceremonia embraced darker, electronic tones, exemplified by the single "Arenas movedizas." Between 2014 and 2015, she unveiled a trilogy of maxi-singles—Premeditación, Nocturnidad, and Alevosía—later compiled into a full-length album in 2015. Her 2017 release, Fuego, included the notable song "Dinamita," which was featured in popular series such as Élite and Vida perfecta. In 2019, she released Brujería, with the track "La Verdad" appearing in the second season of La casa de las flores. Her collaborations span artists like Los Planetas, with whom she contributed vocals to "No sé cómo te atreves" and "La veleta" on their album Una ópera egipcia (2010). In 2022, she composed "Río de Enero" for the closing theme of the series Express. Her single "Una estrella," released in late 2024, is a heartfelt dedication to her daughter and was included in her 2025 LP, LBQ.
