La Maquinaria Norteña is a Regional Mexican band known for its distinctive Norteño-sax style, blending hardcore, romantic tunes with the traditional sounds of northern Mexico. The group's origins can be traced back to Roswell, New Mexico, in 1994 when former Los Rieleros vocalist Polo Urias recruited sax player Keith Nieto, percussionist Erick Urias, accordionist/keyboardist Jimmy Torres, and drummer Aarón Urias to form the band Polo Urias y Su Maquinaria Norteña. Signing with Fonovisa shortly after coming together, they debuted with an eponymous album later that year. In 2006, Keith Nieto formed a new version of La Maquinaria Norteña with his brothers and other members, marking a new chapter with the release of their self-titled album in 2007. They followed up with No Existen Barreras in 2008 and La Nueva Era in 2009. Despite a near-fatal bus accident, the band pressed on, releasing Vive en Mi in 2013, which soared to the Top 10 in the Regional Mexican chart. Their success continued with El Fenómeno in 2014, a more polished album that earned the band a slot on tour with other popular acts such as La Arrolladora Banda El Limón. The band's momentum didn't stop, releasing hits like "Para Que Amarte" in 2015 and the LPs Ya Dime Adiós and Generacion Maquinaria Est. 2006, the latter topping the Latin chart. Collaborations and new material kept them at the forefront, with "Por Obvias Razones" in 2017 achieving significant chart success. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, La Maquinaria Norteña's relentless touring and innovative releases like On Tour 2020 and En Las Buenas y En Las Malas EP kept fans engaged. Their 15th-anniversary compilation in 2021 and the hit single "Eres Ese Algo," featured in their 2022 album Al Derecho y al Reverso, demonstrated their enduring appeal, achieving their first radio number 1 and streaming success. "Eres Algo," released in February 2023, continued their streak of hits, topping the Mexican Regional chart. In 2023, saxophonist Keith Nieto quit the group to pursue a solo career. "A Qué Me Quedo," the group's first single following his departure, arrived in 2024 and peaked at number 38 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
