When his album Für alle reached number one in the German charts in 2004, Laith Al-Deen cemented his reputation as the German answer to Italian superstar Zucchero. Laith Al-Deen, son of a German mother and an Iraqi father, began his career at the end of the 1990s as a singer with the German band Vega. After a tour with the band, he went into the studio with producer Stevie B-Zet and released his first solo album Ich will nur wissen... (2000). Laith Al-Deen is proud of his German heritage. The artist stubbornly refuses to change his musical style. Apart from the two English-language singles "Lay Your Love On Me" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith" released in 2009, all his recordings are in German. When he was nominated for a Comet Award by the German broadcaster Viva, the singer declined the nomination on the grounds that he only wanted to be recognized for his German-language recordings. He was not seeking international fame for his work. Laith Al-Deen took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with the single "Höher" from the hit album Für alle. In 2016, Laith Al-Deen achieved another number 1 album in Germany with Bleib unterwegs. The follow-up Kein Tag umsonst reached number 3 in the German charts in 2020. After a short break, the singer returned in 2024 with the album Dein Begleiter. The longplayer reaches number 15 in Germany.
