Låpsley

Holly Lapsley Fletcher, better known as Låpsley, is an English singer-songwriter from Southport, Merseyside. The 'Å' character in her stage name is a tribute to the Scottish-Scandinavian heritage on her mother's side. Though rooted in the pop realm, her music incorporates elements from electronica, soul, ambient, and alternative R&B. She was born on August 7, 1996, in York, and spent her formative years playing in several bands around the Merseyside area. She first gained popularity in 2014 when she won the One to Watch prize for her bedroom-recorded EP Monday, which quickly accrued half a million listens on her personal streaming channel. After playing the BBC Introducing stage at the Glastonbury festival that year, Låpsley signed with XL Recordings and followed up with another extended play titled Understudy in 2015. Her studio debut, Long Way Home, appeared in 2016 and reached Number 32 on the UK Albums Chart thanks to the popularity of the UK Top 10 single "Hurt Me." Later that year, she played at the Lollapalooza festival in the United States for the first time and performed her single "Love Is Blind" on NBC's Today. Låpsley returned in 2019 with the EP These Elements, followed by her second full-length Throughout in 2020. Preceded by the 2022 singles "32 Floors," "Dial Two Seven," "Smoke and Fire," and "Hotel Corridors," Låpsley's third studio outing Cautionary Tales of Youth saw the light in January 2023 via the British indie label Young.
