Years & Years are a synth-pop band originally formed in London, England in 2010 by musicians and producers Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen and singer Olly Alexander. Their debut album, Communion (2015), went to number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and the UK Albums Chart. They subsequently scored four top 20 tracks on the UK Singles Chart - "King," which topped the chart in 2015, "Shine," which reached number two, "Eyes Shut," which went to number 17 in 2016 and "If You're Over Me," which peaked at number 19. They were featured on The Magician's 2014 release "Sunlight," which went to number seven on the UK Singles Chart. Their 2015 EP Y&Y went to number two on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Chart and their track "Meteorite" can be heard on the soundtrack of Bridget Jones's Baby. In 2018, they released the single "Sanctity" ahead of their second album Palo Santo. Several collaborative projects unfolded in 2019, including a joint single with MNEK called "Valentino" and one with the Pet Shop Boys called "Dreamland." In March 2019, Emre Türkmen announced he would be taking a hiatus from the band. Two years later, Olly Alexander revealed that he would be taking the reins of Years & Years to condense the band into a solo venture. That year, he starred in Russell T Davies's acclaimed drama series It's a Sin and released a cover of the 1987 synth-pop song of the same name by the Pet Shop Boys. Under the Years & Years name, Olly Alexander released third album, Night Call, which shot to the top of the UK charts in January 2022.
