Larusso became a phenomenon in 1998. The 18-year-old's second single hit No. 1 for twelve weeks out of a total of forty-two. however, "Tu m'oublieras" was almost premonitory, for after a euphoric period symbolized by the 1999 album Simplement and opening acts for Johnny Hallyday, Larusso was on the verge of extinction. Her second album Larusso in 2001 was a flop, and Larusso disappeared from the news. She came back with her first name Laetitia and the song "Comme toi" in 2009, which brought her back to the top. Her album Elle was released in autumn 2009.
