French author, composer, musician and performer Laura Cahen was born in Nancy on October 19, 1990. Bathed in a musical atmosphere from childhood by music-loving parents and two brothers who went on to become sound engineers and musicians, she learned to play the piano, the violin, singing and, at the age of fifteen, the guitar, with which she wrote her first songs. In 2007, she formed the duo Deux Z'elles in high school, before studying at the Music Academy International in Nancy. In 2012, Laura Cahen unveiled her first EP of the same name, featuring the acclaimed track "Mon loup" . Programmed at the Printemps de Bourges festival in 2013, the musician released the EP O in 2015 and set off on an international tour with performances in Quebec and China, as well as at the Francofolies festival in La Rochelle. Her debut album Nord, released in 2017, won a "Coup de cœur" from the Académie Charles-Cros, and the single "La Complainte du soleil" was included in the credits of Jérémy Clapin's film J'ai perdu mon corps, whose soundtrack won a César award. In 2021, her second album Une Fille, produced by Dan Levy (The Do), features a duet with Yael Naïm. It was enthusiastically received before being re-released in 2023 under the title Des Filles, with a double CD featuring contributions from Juliette Armanet, Jeanne Added, Mélissa Laveaux, Pi Ja Ma, Juneson and Emel Mathlouthi. Following the release of several tracks, including "La Jetée" and "Les Astres", the album De l'Autre Côté was released in 2025.
