Lee Jae-won

Lee Jae-won, born on April 5, 1980, is a South Korean DJ and singer, best known as a former member of the influential K-pop groups H.O.T. and jtL. He began his solo career in 2005 with the release of his debut album, No Pain, No Gain, which, despite its promising title, did not achieve significant commercial success. His follow-up album in 2007, Lee Jae Won Vol. 1.5, featured the single "I'm So Hot," which sampled a rhythm from Mariah Carey's "It's Like That," yet it similarly underperformed. In 2008, Lee faced a serious legal challenge when he was accused of rape; the charges were dropped just hours later, but the incident hindered his career. After a brief hiatus, he made a comeback in 2012 with the Chinese-language album It's the Time, which received positive feedback in China. Lee completed his compulsory military service in 2011 and was discharged amid discussions of a potential H.O.T. reunion. However, his personal life faced further turmoil when he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2014, which he publicly announced the following year.
