Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund met in the Norwegian town of Lillehammer, made as famous by the 1994 Winter Olympics as by the Lillyhammer series starring Steven Van Zandt. Rather than winter sports, the two artists, who formed Lemaitre in 2010, are infatuated with electro-pop. The French-sounding name is far from coincidental, as both members have a particular affinity for the French touch school. Lemaitre began working on their sound in 2012 with a series of EPs entitled Relativity. In 2014, Singularity and Singularity Remixed follow. Several of Lemaitre's songs are chosen to illustrate commercials, boosting the duo's popularity. Based in Los Angeles, California, Lemaitre released the 1749 EP in 2016, which included his first hit with "Closer" sung by Jennie A.
