The Red Army Chorus brings together two historic ensembles under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Defense and Ministry of the Interior: the Alexandrov Ensemble, founded in 1928, and the MVD Ensemble, established in 1939. This men's choir with its imposing style has carried on the tradition over the decades, even after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Its repertoire, originally made up of traditional Russian music and sacred arias, has diversified into opera and popular music. Among the many recordings made under his various names are albums distributed worldwide in multiple languages. In 1993, Jean-Jacques Goldman called on the Alexandrov Ensemble for the song of the same name on the album Rouge, while Vincent Niclo recorded the album Opéra Rouge with the support of the Red Army Choir in 2012. Two years later, the Red Army Choir performs Daft Punk's hit Get Lucky at the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics. In 2015, the ensemble dedicated an album to the repertoire of Joe Dassin.
