Niatia Jessica Kirkland, who goes by the name Lil Mama, is an American hip-hop performer of West Indian heritage who grew up in New York in a musical family and signed a recording contract while still a teenager. Her 2007 debut album 'VYP: Voice of the Young People' went to number three on Billboard's Top Rap Albums Chart and number five on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. Her debut single off the album 'Lip Gloss' went to number ten on Billboard's Hot 100 and number 16 on the Hot Rap Songs Chart. Another track, 'Shawty Get Loose', featuring Chris Brown and T-Pain, also reached number ten on the Hot 100 and peaked at number 13 on the Rap Chart. She has performed at awards shows and on several television programs in America including 'Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta' in 2018. She starred in a TV movie titled 'When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story' and acted on series 'All American' on the CW Network.
