American actor, singer, director, songwriter and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda was born on January 16, 1980 in New York City. As a schoolboy, he developed a passion for musical comedy and began writing for it at an early age. As a university student, he wrote his first Broadway musical, In the Heights, in 1999. He went on to play a series of roles in musicals such as Merrily We Roll Along (2012), Tick, tick... Boom! (2014) and Hamilton (2015), or in films such as Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), The Return of Mary Poppins (2018) and D'où l'On Vient (2021). He has also starred in hit TV series such as Dr House, Modern Family and The Sopranos, and his talent is also recognized in the composition of film scores and lyrics for feature films such as Vaiana: La Légende du Bout du Monde (2016), Encanto: La Fantastique Famille Madrigal (which took him to #1 on the Billboard charts in 2021) and The Little Mermaid (2023), based on music composed by Alan Menken. A multiple award-winner, including three Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award and three Tony Awards, he has also released several US chart-topping singles, such as "Love Make the World Go Round" with Jennifer Lopez (No. 72 in 2016), "We Know the Way" with Opetaia Foa'i (No. 93 in 2016), "Almost Like Praying" (No. 20 in 2017) and "Found/Tonight" with Ben Platt (No. 49 in 2018). In 2024, the artist embarked on an unprecedented project with the concept album Warriors, inspired by the 1979 film and featuring rival gangs. Oscillating between rap and metal, it features contributions from Nas, Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Marc Anthony, RZA and Ghostface Killah.
