Formed in The Bronx, New York in 1996, Lord Tariq And Peter Gunz is a rap/hip-hop duo formed by Sean ‘Lord Tariq’ Hamilton and Peter ‘Peter Gunz’ Pankey. Originally known as The Gunrunners, the duo collaborated with Whodini on their album Six (1996), co-writing two tracks and appearing on a third, “Can’t Get Enough”. While working as a duo, the two rappers continued to work on outside projects. Gunz worked with basketball legend-turned-rapper Shaquille O’Neal on his albums You Can’t Stop the Reign (1996) and Respect (1998). Meanwhile, Lord Tariq collaborated with Jay-Z and Nas on the single “Analyze This” (1998). Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz’s first single as a duo was “Déjà vu (Uptown Baby)”, released in December, 1997. The single reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The duo released their debut album, Make It Reign, in 1998. The album reached Number 38 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and Number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Make It Reign included guest features from Big Pun, Fat Joe, Kurupt, Cam’ron, and Sticky Fingaz. Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz split up in 1999.
