Lordi

When fans of Zombie and Texas Chainsaw Massacre meet Kiss fans, they give birth to a new scourge of hard rock: Finland's Lordi. With their demon masks and undead garb in the service of a vitamin-packed sound, Lordi hit their target with ease. The concept is a success, and the albums reflect the band's universe perfectly: Get Heavy (2002), The Monsterican Dream (2004), The Arockalypse (2006) and Deadache (2008) are more than just curiosities. To everyone's surprise, Lordi won over the jury at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with "Hard Rock Hallelujah". 2010's Babez for Breakfast marks a distinctly gory turn in Lordi's inspiration. To Beast or Not to Beast (2013) and Scare Force One (2014) also focus on the big show. Never change a winning formula seems to be the band's motto, as they deliver Monstereophonic (2016), Sexorcism (2018) and Killection (2020) in quick succession, before breaking down the Lordiversity album into several conceptual chapters during the two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Returning with new material in 2023, Lordi delighted fans with Screem Writers Guild, followed two years later by Limited Deadition.
